In the final of the Friends Cup Tri-Series on June 2, 2024, the Knight Scorchers secured a commanding 119-run victory over the previously unbeaten Special Warriors. The Knight Scorchers’ openers, Deepanshu and Vipin, laid a solid foundation by scoring 53 runs in seven overs under challenging batting conditions. Deepanshu Mishra’s aggressive play kept the run rate high until Abhishek Nigam dismissed him. Somil Mishra’s brief stint ended quickly with a nick to the wicketkeeper.
Gaurav Verma then came in and drastically shifted the momentum with his explosive batting, hitting several sixes over 80 meters. After Vipin’s dismissal, Kartik Pandey joined Gaurav, and together they pushed the team’s total to 240 runs.
In their chase, the Special Warriors faltered, losing wickets consistently. Abhishek Nigam was their top scorer with only 18 runs. The Knight Scorchers’ bowling attack proved too strong, with Gaurav Verma taking three wickets, Somil Mishra two, and Brijesh, Kartik, Rahul, and Pradeep each contributing one. The Warriors were all out for 121 runs, giving the Knight Scorchers a comfortable and decisive victory.
